August 13 to September 4, 2016

I became a quilter because I was entranced by the textures, colors, combinations, and shapes that result from making a quilt. The Zentangle Method® is a relaxing and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. I love Zentangle® because it’s meditative - it leads me to a peaceful and mindful place. Combining Zentangle and quilting together is an endlessly fascinating experience for me.

"Quiltangles" are my way of translating the drawn Zentangle into an art quilt using stitches from my domestic sewing machine. I do not mark the fabric before quilting it. Instead, I use my “Free Motion Quilting is Brain Training” method to create the designs into the quilt. Ink and textile paint were used for the deep black color and the shades of gray.
“Tangled Garden” was inspired by the drawing below that I created one night during a bout of insomnia. Main tangles featured in “Tangled Garden” are Flux, Verve, Mooking Rixty, BTL Joos, Tipple, Tipz, Knightsbridge and Printemps as the filler design.
