To me, Frida Kahlo is the embodiment of passion. Passion for love. Passion for art. Passion for my home country, Mexico.

“Feet, what do I need you for when I have wings to fly?” And fly she did – Suffering endlessly and blazing trails; Frida and her work went all over the world. She was the first 20th century Mexican artist whose work was purchased by the Louvre.

Friducha, is her husband’s (Diego Rivera) nickname for her, Pies–Feet  Alas–wings Corazon–Heart

How much does somebody’s life change after love is found? Mine changed A LOT! A new language, a new country, a whole new culture and a new religion! I feel that I still struggle with all these changes a little bit every day. But it is worth it.

This is how I show the world how proud I am of my heritage.  From Mayan legends to folksy sayings to Proverbs - there is always history, stories, romance, or treasured traditions behind my quilts.
